What? A 48-hour conference on the Catholic Church and its rural ministry. This year's looks at farm diseases, hunting, the racing industry, rural journalism, rural theology, plus visits.
Extra This year we are offering an extra 24-hours mini retreat on Scripture and the environment led by the Bishop of Lancaster:
Wednesday 11th after lunch to Thursday lunch.
Why? Most of each diocese is rural, yet traditionally the bishop takes his title from a town.
Where? In the comfort of the Best Western Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club in Lancashire, where the food is brilliant! Late bookings may be housed elsewhere.
When? The conference begins at 4.00 pm on Monday 8th February, and finishes after lunch on Wednesday 10th unless you book for the extra 24-hour mini-retreat until Thursday I I th.
Who? Any Catholic interested enough to come. An increasing number of dioceses send a representative. Behind the conference are Fr Harry Doyle (Lancaster) and Fr Robert Miller (Clifton) who represent the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales on the Churches' Rural Group, a co-ordinating committee of Churches Together in England. Fr Harry breeds prize Suffolks, Fr Robert is a maritime missiologist.
How much? Single (£200) or double (£ask) are available. The optional extra day costs another £100. Non residents are charged £25.00 per half day, including lunch or dinner. Your booking form must be accompanied by your cheque, £100 (£25 non resident) of which is a non-returnable deposit. Cheques should be made out to Our Lady & St Michael.
